Ngagyur Nyingma Institute

His Holiness Drubwang Pema Norbu Rinpoche started the Ngagyur Nyingma Institute in 1978.  Here the students study a nine-year course on the Sutra and Tantra teachings of Lord Buddha, as well as the commentaries written by great Indian and Tibetan masters and scholars.  Furthermore, they study poetry, composition, grammar, History of Tibet and Buddhism in general.

So far more than 3000 students from various countries have enrolled in the Institute. Of these students, more than 1200 have completed their nine-year course, receiving the degree of Lopon (equivalent to MA), and more than 300 of these graduates have received the Khenpo degree (equivalent to PhD). The students receive four different degrees in total at the end of their complete study from here.
