In 1985, by bearing a prime intention to put the studies into real practice, His Holiness Pema Norbu Rinpoche opened the Samten Odsal Ling Retreat Centre in Namdroling Monastery. Those who join the Drubdra have to undergo strict practices and should accumulate the certain number of mantra recition of Nyingthig Tsa Sum, Ratling Sedrub, Kaling ZhiThro, and the like, as per the rules of retreat centre imposed by the 2 nd Drubwang Pema Norbu. On completion of the three years strict practice, a post of Vajra teacher (tantric master who is adept in the rituals and meaning of Vajrayana) is offered along with the hat. Till the present day it has produced 200 lamas out of which 153 received the post of Dorji Lopon and at present 47 monks are undergoing intense practice.
